Hazel is the sweetest, most gentle soul you could ever meet. She has such a calm spirit and loves everyone — dogs, cats, and even children. She’s incredibly gentle… I’m not even sure she would hurt a fly.

Hazel was a young mama who took such good care of her babies while living in the woods. When she first came into foster care, she was understandably on high alert — it was the first time she had ever been away from them. She had to learn that she didn’t have to be on guard anymore, that she was finally safe, and that it was okay to relax. And she truly has.

Watching Hazel learn how to rest has been such a gift. When she first arrived, she preferred being outside and would try to sleep under a tree because that’s what she was used to. But once she realized that inside meant safety and comfort, everything changed. Now she has fully embraced the cozy life! The couch and dog beds? Absolute favorites.

She loves attention and belly rubs (they’re the best!), and if you’re lucky, she might even give you the sweetest little smile.

Hazel is still building confidence with the leash. She much prefers being at home where she feels safe and relaxed and needs some encouragement to head out the door. It’s something she’s continuing to work on, and with patience and reassurance, she’ll keep making progress. The good news? She’s very treat motivated!

Hazel has come such a long way and is ready for a loving home where she can continue to feel safe, cherished, and adored. If you’re looking for a calm, affectionate, couch-loving companion, Hazel just might be your girl.
