Name: Poppy
Age: 9 years old
Breed: Miniature Poodle

Poppy seems to attach to her human and has separation anxiety. Would be best for someone retired or home most of the time. LOVES to be carried around and LOVES to sit in your lap!! Maybe not best for a family with children. She is very tiny and gets underfoot and we don’t want her stepped on! She is not comfortable and very anxious riding in the car. A fence is required. Must pick her up before you open the door to outside because she will dart right out and she is FAST

Personality and Traits:

  • Sociable with Dogs: Poppy loves the company of other dogs and enjoys playing and interacting with them.
  • Chaser of Squirrels and Small Critters: True to her playful nature, Poppy will eagerly chase after squirrels and other small animals she encounters.
  • High Jumper: Poppy is incredibly agile and can jump 4 feet straight into the air with ease.
  • Flight Risk: Due to her tendency to run off, Poppy must always be kept in a harness for safety.

Background:

  • Rescue Story: Poppy came to her current family in a very matted state and had to be shaved to ensure her comfort and health.
  • She was found as a stray and surrendered to Lee County Animal Shelter

Preferences and Needs:

  • Diet: Poppy prefers soft food, making her meals easy for her to enjoy.
  • Toys: She has a particular fondness for squeaky toys, which she loves to play with.
  • Travel: Poppy gets nervous when traveling by car and needs to be caged to feel secure and safe during trips.

Care Tips:

  • Always use a harness to prevent Poppy from running off.
  • Provide her with soft food to accommodate her dietary preferences.
  • Ensure she has plenty of squeaky toys to keep her entertained.
  • Use a cage for car travel to help her feel comfortable and reduce anxiety.
  • Poppy is a loving and energetic companion who brings joy and excitement to her family, despite her special needs and quirky habits.
