Missy is a fawn lab mix. She’s not yet two years old. Two middle schoolers rescued her when she was abandoned tied to a utility pole. The students’ family lived on a very modest income and could not properly care for her. They “fostered” her for four months keeping her in a fenced yard and helping her put on weight. This foster family has left Raleigh. Missy, left behind twice, is ready for a stable home.

Missy is friendly and smart. She had her first known car trip and vet visit on April 22 and did GREAT! (She’s 50 pounds, so it was not much effort to give her a boost into the back seat.) She got a clean bill of health and a rabies vaccination.

She’s a puppy, but is beyond her chew and nip stage. She doesn’t cower at cars or lightening. She loves scratches behind the ears. She has learned to “sit.” She’s wears a collar and eagerly walks with a leash.

She generally barks when other dogs first bark at her. She’s not aggressive. We don’t think she likes squirrels. We think she’d need training to get along with a cat. But, she’ll definitely seek friendship from adults and children alike.
