Barney is a very sweet boy who will make a fantastic addition to a lucky family. He is almost entirely houstrained (still marks on occasion, but knows that the yard is his bathroom). He loves attention and has a ton of energy, especially since most of his young life was spent in a crate. In public settings, he is extremely outgoing and knows no strangers as long as his people are nearby. Left with only strangers, however, he is fairly slow to trust; unless he knows you well, he will run away from you if you call him and duck when you try to pet him. He is scared of quick movements and being grabbed. He also has separation anxiety and will get upset (whining, pacing, scratching doors and the floor) when a pack member leaves the house. He will need a lot of interaction, socialization and training to become part of his forever family. A family with other small dogs and older children (or no children) is preferred. If you think that you are the patient, loving home that he deserves, fill out an application or contact his foster family directly.
