Shepherd / Mixed (medium coat) : : Female (spayed) : : Young : : Large
She is a beautiful, sweet girl! At eighteen months she is 72 pounds now and would prefer to be a lap dog. She will follow you around the house, rest at your feet or lay down in the same room, keeping an eye on you. She will come up and sit down at your feet, put her paws in your lap wanting some love. She will take her head and push your hand to pet her. When she is laying on the floor, she loves for you to lie next to her, rub her belly and get kisses. She is fully potty trained, when she wants to go out, she will go to the door and bark. She has not been in a crate for about a year, sleeping on her bed in the room with us. In the morning when we start to stir, she will walk over, jump and put her front paws on you on the bed to say good morning. If you say go lay down (on the weekends) she goes on back to her bed. She also enjoys nylabones to chew on falling asleep or in the morning before the rest of the house gets moving.
She loves chasing tennis balls but has not mastered fetch, and also loves to play with her kong. I purchase the big cow bones for her and our other dog and she will spend hours chewing on them (great for her teeth) and after awhile, she'll go bury/hide it.
Leah is used to running anywhere from 3-5 miles, three times a week as well as walking 2-4 miles another three times a week.
Leah does wonderfully with children! She knows how to "sit", part of the time"stay", occaisonally she still will jump up on people. At 18 months old, she is loosing her "puppiness" by not chewing on things around the house. Leah is an escape artist and can jump a 4' fence. While we do not require a fence, if her adopter has one it must be 6', NO invisible or electric fences for this girl please.
12/13/11 - Addie is quickly learning to be housetrained, but she is still going to have accidents and will need continued training because she is just a puppy. Her foster parents give her lots of praise whenever she potties outside, and they never get mad at her when she has an accident inside.
Addie is already starting to learn basic obedience. After one training session, she is already learning to sit when asked! As with all puppies, using teeth when interacting with people is something that has to be eliminated with training. Within the span of 1 week, Addie has improved in that area substantially! With further training, we think Addie will stop mouthing completely. More about LeahGood with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Good with Kids
