Say Hello to Lady Di. :)  She and her 8 starved puppies were taken from a property where they have been abused, neglected, and abandoned.  Lady Di had a deformed front leg and someone shot her in her other front paw leaving a massive hole and damage.  She was getting around by crawling on her belly.  Starved, thirsty, and heartworm positive she was doing the very best to keep her babies safe and fed.  Unfortunately, she wasn't producing enough milk to do so.  As a result 3 of her pups have some health issues which we are also addressing.

This girl is the most loving, trusting creature I believe I have ever met.  She melts my heart every time I look at her.

We are working hard to address all her medical needs and she's been a trooper thus far.  If you'd like to help sponsor her treatment please donate from our home page paypal link.  She and all of us here at PMR will be so ever grateful.

We will update her progress here and on our facebook page so please check back for updates on this beautiful princess.

Lavender update: 2nd heartworm treatment was completed on Saturday. She's coughing some but we're keeping her as calm as we can. Stem cell surgery didn't work so well but they are going to try another surgery on her. Her bad leg has to come off anyway so they are going to use the bones from it to reconstruct the good (not so good ) leg. Not sure when that is going to happen but will keep everyone updated.

Update 9/15/11

Lavender went in for her recontructive surgery this past Monday.  They amputated her left leg and used the bones from it to reconstruct her right paw.  They went back in on Tuesday to realign the rods and are extremely happy at the results.  6-8 weeks recovery time but it looks like she's going to have a "real" foot to walk on!!   A week from tomorrow she'll have her final heartworm treatment and hopefully have a clean bill of health for those at least.  THEN maybe we'll get her spayed. :)  This girl is WONDERFUL

Update 10/30/11

Our vet is very pleased with the healing progess of Lavenders paw.  Hopefully she'll move to a soft splint in the next couple of weeks.   Her heartworm treatment is complete and she's recovering from the surgery she had last week to remove some fibroblast cells.
