These pups won the lottery-- meet the Lottery Litter. They were pulled at 6 weeks of age minutes before they were scheduled for euthanasia at a rural NC shelter. We sent out a plea to our Raleigh-Durham community for fosters to help these pups, and people stepped up to save them! It just goes to show that creating a 'Christmas miracle' is within reach when people are kind.
These babies are typical hounds-- but it is unclear what they are mixed with. They are vocal but very cuddly and love to snuggle. These pups can go to their new home after 1/1/2026 - when they are 8 weeks old. Although they are small now, we expect they will be ~50 lbs full grown

Fortuna’s Bio from foster family:
Don’t let her size fool you—Tuna may be the runt of the litter, but she has main character energy. Named after luck herself, Fortuna is bold, fearless, and living life at full volume.
Tuna is an all-or-nothing kind of girl: she plays hard, snuggles harder, and throws her whole heart into everything she does. She loves wrestling with her sister and has zero fear when launching herself onto her much larger foster brother. If there’s action happening, Tuna is in the middle of it.
She’s still working through puppy manners (those tiny nippy teeth are no joke), but she’s learning quickly and already doing great with potty training. When the zoomies are over, Tuna turns into a couch potato who melts into soft blankets for the coziest naps imaginable. Kids? They make her extra wiggly and excited—she lives for the fun.
Tuna’s highlights:
- Spunky, fearless, and full of personality
- Loves dogs and rough-and-tumble play
- Super affectionate once she settles
- Doing great with potty training
- Obsessed with blankets and couch naps
- Extra playful around kids
Tuna is looking for a home ready to embrace her big personality, keep up with her puppy energy, and laugh a lot along the way.
