George was surrendered to Walnut St., Animal Hospital in July 2024, Foster’s Erin and Joe picked him up on July 21. He was extremely emaciated, severely anemic, had fleas, and dual ear infections. As of his two week follow up appointment, he had achieved significant weight gain, and a drastic improvement with the anemia. He is still anemic, and should be cleared by a vet prior to neutering. At the two week mark, he was not in a condition for surgery. As of the three week mark, his ear infections were cured.  Debbie identified a known family who has recently lost an English bulldog, they agreed to be his adopter before his foster picked him up. Upon adoption, he will need to be given for smaller meals daily, and they will work with the vet to eventually achieve to meal a day schedule. This is important, due to his extreme prior starvation.  See his medical journal for other treatments/details of his condition. Note, a breed knowledgeable adapter was required for George, as he is an English bulldog. This breed requires a higher maintenance of care due to pre-existing conditions they born with.

Special Needs: 1) Anemia. Walnut St., Animal Hospital vet tested him twice. First test in July 2024 show that he was severely anemic. Second test in August 2024 still show that he was anemic and needed to make progress, but there was significant improvement. His healthy diet needs to be maintained, weight goals achieved, and a vet needs to clear him before he can be neutered due to the anemia. 2) Diet/weight maintenance: Because of his previous emaciated body/history of starvation, he has been on a special meal plan starting with six small meals a day tapering down to four. He will need to continue tapering until he reaches two meals a day and maintains a healthy weight. Adopter should work with vet going forward to ensure this. He will most likely be on four meals a day at the time of adoption.
