Robert Redford is regal and strikingly handsome, just like his namesake! “Red” has probably not known much love in his life, and despite this, he has such a soft and good heart, and he turns into a sweet little puddle, or a clown, once he feels safe and comfortable. He’s a gentle giant who loves to splat on cool floors and he loves to fall asleep in seemingly impossible positions.
His foster brother and sister, also both French Bulldogs, adore him, and have exhibited good patience as Red has begun to learn how to be a dog.
He’s taken some time to decompress. He came into his foster home very unsure of every environment, not even knowing how to receive pets from his foster humans. He tucks himself into corners or small spaces between chairs and tables to feel secure. And food and treats were not exciting to him.
He’s now comfortable receiving pets, and he’s found that he in fact loves pets! He even approaches people now that he knows they’ll show him love and kindness. He’s happy to curl up on your lap, and he seems to now have faith in humans! He especially loves his meals now! He enjoys getting a new healthy surprise in his meals, like low fat cottage cheese, non fat Greek yogurt, or some crumbly blueberry dog treats from our favorite local dog treat bakery. He gets those added to kibble and wet food, and now actually dances with excitement when he sees his food bowl!
Robert does a great job at sleeping through the night, and enjoys lots of plush blankies in his open door crate as he settles in.
Despite that he’s shown love for his foster siblings, and that he’ll happily cuddle with them, he still is skiddish, and he can be defensive, although we have faith that this will improve once he is neutered.
He exhibits happiness when he sees other doggos, and with some time, love, and patience, Red will be the happiest boy and the absolute best companion!
Although French Bulldogs are a popular breed, Frenchie ownership is not for the faint of heart. This breed is incredibly loving, goofy, and on the lower end of moderate when it comes to energy. They can easily overheat, and their time outside should be limited. They’re not an outdoor adventure companion, and exercise with Frenchies should usually be very limited or avoided. If you’re looking for a goofy and loving best friend who cuddles with you at home, Red may be your Pawfect Match.
