I'm your new HIKING BUDDY!
HI! My name's Sally (used to be Astrid)! I am incredibly smart and loving. I already know "come", "sit", "place", "wait", "heel", "free", "give" and "down". I am an amazing walker--I stay on your left side with my head even with your knee and I only pull when I stop to smell something (rarely)...or a squirrel taunts me! I don't pay much attention to other dogs or people we meet on trails.

What's a day like with Sally??  First CUDDLES, somersaults in your lap and tummy rubs!  Then she'll patiently lay by your feet while you get dressed and cook breakfast. She LOVES a quick sniff walk outside and then enjoys eating breakfaast (especially if you scatter it in the yard or hide it in newspaper inside a cardboard box!  Then...NAP!  Any chance to play with another big dog or too is awesome! Several games of fetch/tug throughout the day keep me happy! I love to bring the toy back and toss the other end into your hand for more tug. I let go when you say "Give" and LOVE chasing it when you throw it!

Sally is very popular at doggie daycare and enjoys the dog park. If Sally is in a home with another doggie, that doggy friend needs to be at least Sally's size (50lbs +) and they're more likely to enjoy each other if it's a female with good manners.  Walking past other dogs that aren't invading her space is usually just fine.  

We don't know how Sally is with cats, but I wouldn't risk her with any smaller animals (including dogs) because she has a high prey drive. She's caught 3 voles in our backyard!

 
I LOVEEEE toys, especially the ones that squeak and I especially want to play with YOU! If you play tug-of-war and FETCH with me I'll be your best friend. I also love any toys or treats that are buried or covered up so I can find them.
 
I don't like to be left alone for a long time so please don't stay gone for too long (4+ hours). Because I love you so much, I get bored after more than four hours. I just want to be with my people. 

I absolutely LOVE CAR RIDES!  I want to go everywhere with you! The park, Lowe's Home Depot, Petsmart...anything is fine as long as I get to hang my head out the car window! (Never car-sick)

I'm a loving retired mama dog (I was a very young mother). I raised all my babies and sent them off, now it's my turn for vacation!
