Sturgill needs a caretaker or foster! Won't you consider helping him get a new start?
There is not a sweeter dog in the whole world. All Sturgill wants is to be snuggling with a preferred human at all times. He would make a perfect service dog, companion for a retiree or someone who works from home, or a companion for someone going through a hard time. He believes he is a small dog and wants to sit in your lap or lay on you. He is very tuned into his humans and will lick your tears when you are sad and snuggle up to you. Sturgill does not have an aggressive bone in his body so while he may look fierce he is no guard dog. He does well with kids of all ages, other dogs, and cats (though he does try to chase them and play with them he will not hurt them). He is incredibly tolerant and would not be bothered by being tugged on by younger children. Sturgill is still very much a puppy. He has a lot of playful energy. He likes to go for walks and does best on his special collar. He loves to run around and would do great with a fenced in yard, living in the country, being a jogging partner, being a hiking partner, or being taken to the dog park a lot. He does jump on people, counters, and the doors and windows (to look at dogs and humans passing) and will need some consistent feedback to reduce that behavior. He also can be very vocal because he is so social and wants to be with a human or other dog at all times, he will whine when left alone, when he sees animals and people out the window, and when he is out walking and sees animals and people. He is crate trained and does like laying in a cozy bed of his own when not snuggling. He also prefers to have blankets and pillows of his own. He loves to chew and does best with toys designed for aggressive chewers. He loves to get out his toys and play with them daily. If he is left alone, he will chew up your household items, especially things made of plastic like remotes and shoes. Sturgill is fully house trained. He has been trained to ring a bell to let you know when he needs to use the bathroom. He has also been trained to run out to the yard, use the bathroom, and run back in. He is highly food motivated and responds best to training that involves food and praise for rewarding desired behavior paired with a mild punishment for undesired behaviors (such as an aversive sound or vibration from a training collar). He does seem to have some anxiety and will do best with someone that can be with him most of the time, will be physically affectionate (he would love to be in the bed or on the couch with his human), and give him consistent daily exercise. https://www.pawfectmatch.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=18612778 More about SturgillGood with Dogs, Good with Cats, Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Good with Adults, Somewhat vocal, Does Good in the Car, Does not require a yard, Leashtrained, Cratetrained, Likes to play with toys, Obedient, Playful, Affectionate, Eager To Please, Intelligent, Even-tempered, Goofy
