Who is ready for a 'gentle giant'? Big Duke is such a sweet boy that we pulled from the shelter on his last day. He likes all dogs but ESPECIALLY craves human affection.
All Duke wants is to not be abandoned again. We think he must have been left outside often (likely in a crate that was too small for him) as he is learning good manners in being an inside dog. He WILL get up to mischief if there are treats left out on the counter or left home alone. Belly bands keeps any marking in check as he is primarily housetrained but will likely "mark" his new terriroty for the first week or two. Again, those belly bands work great for him and he doesn't try to pull them off himself.
Duke is such a sweet, gentle boy and loves people. He deserves a forever home with someone that will love him back. He has ZERO signs of aggression. His foster mama, Hannah, has rarely ever heard him bark. He would be great with a brother or sister, regardless of size! I have never met such a sweet and loving dog in my entire life. He's not picky as to where he recieves his love, old or young, human or canine, big or small. He let's the rambunctious pups go crazy when playing with him, belly up and loves when they hype him up. His zoomies are possibly the most adorable zoomies ever as he's a bit on the clumsy side and falls off the couch, trips over his own feet, and sometimes those walls just come out of nowhere :)
BIG DUKE'S IDEAL HOME:
-Has a playful canine sibling(s) as he loves to play gently inside and loves to run and play tag with his canine friends. His a bigger boy so older, smaller, fragile canines would not be ideal for him.
-Has someone home with him 24/7 or with someone who has the ability to take him to work with them. He won't leave your side, does good on car rides, and just wants to be next to his human whenever possible.
-A yard with a 5' or taller fence. He can and will jump the shorter fences if he's being left outside too long or sees something he wants to play with on the other side of the fence. He'd do just fine without his own yard as well but a tall fenced yard would be ideal for this big ol' baby :)
-No cats or smaller pets. He has been known to chase cats relentlessly and is very intrigued by small critters like mice and squirrels - I'd imagine he'd go crazy for birds too.
