Cecil is a beautiful big fluffy boy. He came from a backyard breeding situation where there were several golden retrievers and Pyrenees dogs on site. He is likely a mix of the two breeds. Like many of the dogs on the property, he is poorly socialized and had not ever been inside. Fortunately, Cecil is young and has plenty of time to overcome his poor start.

Because he's still learning to be comfortable, we don't completely know exactly what his personality is. Right now, he is frightened and spends a lot of his time close to the person he's decided is ok. He's submissive and defers to the other dogs and humans for what he should be doing. He does well in his crate, has met and got along with the other dogs in the house, and is super gentle.

We will update his info as we learn more about him. In general, Cecil is going to need time to build his confidence and learn how to be an inside family dog. He will surely be worth it as his potential is limitless.

Update 4/7:

Cecil is doing well in his foster home. He is an interesting mix of complete shadow dog that is always a few feet away and a big old scaredy cat. He really WANTS to be family dog and is doing the best he can to get there. He's picked out a few corners in the house that he feels safe in. One of them is behind foster mom's desk where is spends the day and the other is by foster mom's evening patterns where he spends his evenings. He stays close, far perfers to be inside rather than playing outside, and will ask for pets and scrachtes when the room feels safe.

He does NOT respond well to humans that are standing and try to interact with him. He will scitter away anytime someone leans down into him, particularly if making direct eye contact. We accomodate him and make sure to respect his boundries and allow him to approach us when we are sitting or resting in bed.

He is an absolute softie. He tolerates us well and we're really enjoying watching him come into his own. If you're ready to take on a gem of dog that that will grow and flourish during his time with you, Cecil is your guy!
