Cocoa was rescued in February 2022 after she spent all of her life being bred by an irresponsible puppy mill breeder.  The vet believes her to be between 3-4 years old.

Cocoa is a beautiful, sweet girl who loves affection, other dogs, and a reliable routine.  She is not aggressive at all.  Because Cocoa was a puppy mill dog, used only for breeding with little or no human interaction, she has anxiety and does not like changes to her established environment. 

Cocoa will need an experienced adopter who is very patient, can spend a lot of time with her, and has an established, reliable home routine.  Cocoa needs a quiet home with another dog who is good natured to help her continue her rehabilitation. 

Cocoa REQUIRES a good fence.  If Cocoa is unsure of a person or a situation, she will run away.  She is a high flight risk and, if she escapes, it will be difficult (if not impossible) to catch her.  She will come with a Fi brand GPS collar with a one year 'gift' period that the adopter will agree to continue to maintain thereafter. 

If you are looking for a dog to take outside of your home or to go on adventures, Cocoa is not the dog for you - at least not at this time.  She may come around over time with lots of patience, love, and people that she can trust. 

Anyone interested in adopting Cocoa will need to make multiple visits in her foster home to start the process.  We will not adopt her immediately to a new home.  Before applying for adoption, please consider that this could be a lengthy process.  But she is definitely worth it!
