Lupa (aka Lulu). Enjoys cold-brew coffee and being the first one to discover a new/old dive bar. Sells refurbished Polaroid cameras on Etsy and is currently working on a cookbook of vegan meals prepared entirely on a 1992 Easy-Bake Oven. Claims she has no idea who the Jonas Brothers are. Okay, we are just kidding about all of that, but we are not kidding when we say this dog is a GEM. Lupa may have been found running loose in Durham, but she was made for all the luxuries of home life—now she just needs to find her family! Here is the scoop on our pretty girl: · Two words: Snuggle. Bug. Lulu loves to cuddle with both people and her dog friends. Want a kiss? She is happy to oblige. Lupa is a lover! · Lupa has not had any accidents in her foster home, she is a smart cookie! · Will sleep quietly through the night either in her crate or on a dog bed in her foster mom’s room (she likes to be with people and her foster dog siblings best!). · Has been left home alone and crated up to 5 hours without issue (she can probably go longer, but that is just what we have observed). She has not yet been left loose in the house unattended. · Is lovely on leash! Lupa can walk nicely with her 2 large breed foster brothers and her foster mom has no problem controlling all 3 at once. · LOVES to play play play in the backyard with her foster brothers. While not required, Lupa’s ideal home would have a backyard with a tall, sturdy fence. · Even though Lu is a husky mix, she is not a super high energy dog. If she gets walks and playtime outside, she has a very nice “off switch” and is happy to relax inside. Overall, she is very appropriate for the setting. Her foster mom jokingly calls her a “starter husky.” · Just like any new dog, Lupa would benefit from basic obedience training and we have no doubt she will excel at learning new things. · Rides easy in the car! Can be a little nervous getting up and in, but once she is settled, she loves a good road trip. · We have not observed Lulu with cats, but she does show moderate prey drive for outside animals (birds, squirrels), so unfortunately would do best in a home without feline or small animal friends. Lupa truly is a wonderful girl and would make a great addition to many homes! Unfortunately, Lupa is heartworm positive but treatment expenses will be covered by the rescue. Lucky for you, she can still go to her loving home before treatment is complete. If you are interested in adding Lupa to your family, we will go over more information on her treatment with you. Might Lupa be your pawfect match?!
