This sweet girl made her way to Pawfect Match from a rural GA shelter in the midst of COVID-19 when the shelters were fillng up. Stevie was adopted, but came back to us at no fault of her own-- one of her owners developed a debilitating allergy and they are crestfallen at having to find her a new home.
Stevie is excellent with kids, dogs, and happy to be hugged or wrestled with; she shows zero aggression with them or anyone even when she's working on a beloved bone. She's around three outdoor cats daily, and reeeeeeally wants to be BFFs with them. They do not feel the same way, sadly, though they tolerate her playfulness. She has a LOT of energy and would likely do well in a home with another well-matched dog; she spends time around a family member's older dog and her play is a little much (though in no way dangerous) for her until she settles. She's housebroken, crate trained, and doing great on her training generally. She can sit, lie down, roll over ("belly rubs!") stay, come, "leave it" and more. She's still very much a puppy, and needs continued work on her self-control when there are distractions (i.e. outside), but is doing awesome with consistent training. She's stopped most of her mouthiness with and loves rawhides and rubber balls. She's not perfect with the temptation of leather shoes yet, but getting better. She is VERY food motivated, and always, always hungry. This means she responds super well to treats for training
She does NOT love being alone, but she sleeps well in her crate at night;
She's calming down more quickly now and is less distressed about short stints on her own.
Strengths:
Learns very quickly
Treat-motivated
Solid on several commands
House-broken
Crate-trained
Good with kids
Good with cats
Good with other dogs
Stays close when outdoors off leash
Very attuned with her pack
Still working on:
Personal space (nosing, licking)
Self-control/responsiveness when distracted
Temptation with food/some items
Being alone (barking, scratching)
Plays really well with some dogs; high energy for others (or cats)
High energy when overly excited
All in all, while Stevie still has some puppy behaviors to work with, it's very clear to us that she's extremely smart and responsive to positive reinforcement.
