Our gentle giant at only 7 months old, with a background story to keep it interesting. Siku is part of a back yard breeder situation where he lived outdoors with as many as 17 other dogs.  Sadly, the human component was missing.   This group of dogs made the great escape and fortunately found their way into rescue.  We are doing our best to introduce them to the love and care only people can give.  Our efforts are paying off!

Siku is as handsome as they come but has a lot to learn. He has lived as a pack animal, which, did not require manners.  He is sweet and goofy and a big baby much of the time but behind on the learning curve. He does recognize his name and knows to sit in order to get a treat. He pauses when told 'no', indicating that he's paying attention, but sometimes needs to be told twice.  He loves being indoors and in the middle of it all, even when that means scary noises and strange people lurking about. Siku is not overtly friendly when he first meets you. He is timid and shy and untrusting ...until he isn't. You have to earn his approval. Females being far less scary to him then males.  Once you get his stamp of approval, you're golden.

Siku does not care to be crated or penned and will not go willingly. He likes his freedom to roam and play and be the kid he is.  He does, however, adhere to space boundaries given to him. He is not crazy about being on a leash. Some days we have better luck than others in our attempts but too many new things are intimidating to him.  He is most happy in his comfort zone. Siku is not potty trained. He has improved, but is not 100%. He does not have accidents in his pen or in the house as he has access to the outdoors at all times, but will sometimes choose to 'go' on his blanket on the porch instead of walking out to the yard.  Brat!

Siku lives with older children and has done well dealing with the energy that can generate.  He has been introduced to cat's and is no longer scared of them, merely curious.  Siku is a good combination of playful ...and a lughead.  He does require exercise but nothing over the top.  A nice fenced in yard to play in will do the trick.  He loves to lay at your feet or roll over for belly rubs just as much as wrestling with his foster buddies. He has learned the beauty of human touch and will seek your attention.  Siku is good with dogs of all sizes and does not seem to be dominant toward any of them.

Siku is a great pup who will require patience and love and tolerance to become a great dog. He is in need of an owner who understands his background and has the ability to appreciate baby steps.
