Siberian Husky / Mixed (long coat) : : Male (neutered) : : Young : : Medium
Kisko is a smart and sweet dog. He is a smaller sized husky mix and currently weighs about 30 lbs and probably will not grow any more beyond his current state. Usually the comments we get is that he looks like some sort of coyote. He is house broken so he has not attempted to destroy anything he knows isn’t a toy in a while and he does not try to use the bathroom indoors either. He can be playful and will play with toys as well as my other dogs, but a lot of the time he is mellow and will settle down on the couch or under the coffee table. He is also kennel trained so he does sleep in one while we are out of the house or sleeping. Kisko had some behavioral issues when he first came to be under our care. There are two areas of concern that we have, the first being that he is food aggressive. During mealtimes he will try to protect his bowl/food from my other animals. He may try to snap at other animals that come too close to his bowl. He has never actually hurt any of my other animals he seem to be doing it more of a warning. Recently he has been doing so much better with meal times than he had been when we first got him. He is not attempted to steal food from humans and is fairly well behaved while we are eating. The second area of concern is that he is leash aggressive. This means he is not a fan of strange dogs, mainly in public, and may lunge at other dogs. The severity of this does seem to be a bit down to how well behaved the other dog is but we can almost never be sure how good or bad a strange dog is going to be in public so there is always a danger. Just like with the food he has made a lot of progress to lower the severity of his reactions. He is very trainable since he is highly food motivated and can snap easily out of these aggressive episodes. For the reasons described above we are looking for someone dedicated in continuing the excellent progress we have made in his training. Check the event calendar to come out and meet Kisko, we will be able to talk more in-depth about his personality and what steps we expect you to take to keep him on the correct track. Kisko's brother, Ronin (adopted) can also be seen on our website.
