Meet Nutmeg! This special lady was rescued from a hoarding situation along with her TWELVE puppies. She came to us having no idea how good life can really be and is learning every day. She is a work-in-progress (aren’t we all?), but has already grown so much with love, patience, and consistency.

Nutmeg takes a while to adjust to new situations, but under her fear is a pretty amazing dog. Once she has settled in, she likes to cuddle on the bed, loves to run around in the yard with her foster dog brother, and enjoys her daily cream cheese (and Prozac) treat.

In her foster home, she's interactive and stays close to foster mom. She enjoys chewing a toy and rolling around on her back in the grass. She wags her tail in a helicopter shape, dances when she's excited, and loves to say hi to other dogs walking past the yard.

Adopting Nutmeg will likely take some time for adjustment. Here's some things you should know -

She's going to bark at you and run from you the first time she meets you. She doesn't auto-trust people and you can't expect to be fast friends.

She's leash reactive and cannot be walked (yet). She doesn't bolt and is doing well in her foster family’s fenced in yard.

She really appreciates having a doggy role model. Having one or two other dogs in the house, preferably a little older and calmer, to show her the ropes will help a lot.

Although Nutmeg is still struggling with the trauma from her past, she is a truly wonderful dog. When introduced to her foster cat siblings, she was so respectful that she never got so much as a warning hiss. She is doing her very best every day, and with love and kindness she will continue to grow into a wonderful friend.
